Now in its twenty-eighth year, the Medicine Hat JazzFest is a widely recognized festival that is a part of the Jazz Festivals Canada network of major Canadian jazz festivals. We feature an eclectic mix of venues ranging from a hangar at the Medicine Hat Regional Airport, to the beautiful terrace of the Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre, to the front lawn of the Esplanade. We offer both free and ticketed events as well as many educational opportunities including workshops and a jam.

Winner of the 2010 and 2015 Medicine Hat Chamber of Commerce Tourism Award of Distinction, and the 2016 Alberta Chamber of Commerce Business Award in Arts and Culture, the Medicine Hat JazzFest has found a way to bring together great jazz and a community festival that’s all about fun and celebration, and to do it in the beautiful setting of this small and friendly Alberta city.

Our goal is to bring the highest calibre of music to our area, to create and build community, to enhance the lives of individuals, and to educate about jazz.

Past performers include multi-Grammy award winner Arturo Sandoval, Lee Konitz, Paquito d’Rivera, Bobby Hutcherson, Guido Basso, Monty Alexander, Laila Biali, Patricia Barber, Kenny Werner, Renee Rosnes, Joey DeFransesco, The Shuffle Demons, Downchild Blues Band, Powder Blues, Maraca, and Wil Campa.
