Energy Transition is Coming For Alberta's Lunch
Thursday, April 25, 2024 (11:30 AM - 1:00 PM) (MDT)
Description
Come and Join us for Lunch!
Markham Hislop, Energy Journalist at energi.media will be on hand to facilitate discussion and offer insights into the future of energy.
During the last big energy transition 100 years ago, the internal combustion engine and cheap petroleum pushed horses out of transportation and farming by 1945 at the latest. This energy transition is much the same. Electric technologies like EVs, heat pumps, and batteries are beginning to push fossil fuel-based technologies like cars/trucks and furnaces out of the marketplace. As the world's fourth biggest oil producer and fifth biggest gas producer, Canada is squarely in the energy transition's crosshairs. How will Canada be affected? How should Canada respond?
